2025-2026 PARC NEH Fellowships for Scholars Conducting Humanities Research in Palestine

The Palestinian American Research Center (PARC) announces the 13th PARC National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Fellowship Programs at Independent Research Institutions (FPIRI) competition for research in Palestine in the humanities or research that embraces a humanistic approach and methods. Applicants must be scholars who have earned their PhD or completed their professional training. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or foreign nationals who have lived in the United States for the last three years.

Information about the fellowship competition:

  • Fields of study include but are not limited to, history, philosophy, religious studies, literature, languages and linguistics, archaeology, and jurisprudence. In addition, research that embraces a humanistic approach and methods will be considered. Research must also contribute to Palestinian Studies.
  • Applicants must be scholars who have earned their PhD or completed their professional training.
  • Applicants must propose a minimum of four up to a maximum of ten consecutive months of research that takes place in Palestine.
  • Selected fellows must work on their research full-time during their period of funding.
  • Applicants may be U.S. citizens living in the United States or abroad. Applicants may also be foreign nationals who have lived in the United States for a minimum of three years immediately preceding the application deadline.
  • Minority scholars and scholars from Minority Serving Institutions are especially encouraged to apply.

  • Application form
  • Abstract (350 words max)
  • Research proposal (2,500 word max)
  • Service component (not mandatory for this competition)
  • CV
  • Passport information
  • Two letters of recommendation

Evaluation criteria:

  • Research topic significant, under-researched, original, or new perspective
  • Contribution to the humanities, your field of study, and Palestinian Studies
  • Clear plan for publication
  • Appropriateness of methodology
  • Feasibility of research design
  • Your qualifications, including the requisite knowledge, experience, and skills to complete the project
